Uit onderzoek blijkt dat 60,2 procent van de Nederlanders last heeft van haar- en/of hoofdhuidproblemen. Deze problemen hebben een duidelijke impact op het zelfvertrouwen: 75 procent geeft aan dat hun zelfbeeld hierdoor wordt beïnvloed.

Toch rust er nog altijd een taboe op haar- en hoofdhuidproblematiek en zijn de behandelingsopties veelal onbekend.
Haar- en hoofdhuidproblemen
Op donderdag 10 oktober 2024, de Dag van het Haarwerk, steken haarwerkspecialisten mensen met haar- en hoofdhuidproblemen een hart onder de riem.
Haar speelt een grote rol in hoe mensen zichzelf zien. Bijna 90 procent van de Nederlanders vindt hun haar belangrijk voor hun zelfvertrouwen. “Haar is enorm belangrijk voor het welzijn van mensen”, zegt Willeke Pietersma, voorzitter van de ANKO Sectie Haarwerken. Deze organisatie vertegenwoordigt haarwerkspecialisten in Nederland.
“Haarproblemen zijn vaak een beladen onderwerp, maar het is tijd om dat taboe te doorbreken. Haarwerkspecialisten beschikken over veel kennis en kunnen een belangrijke rol spelen bij het behandelen van haarproblemen.”
Voorkomen en oplossen
Niet alleen bij ernstige haaruitval, zoals bij alopecia of als gevolg van chemotherapie. ook bij minder ernstige klachten als dunner wordend haar of een gevoelige hoofdhuid kan een haarwerkspecialist veel betekenen. “Er is veel mogelijk op het gebied van preventie en het oplossen van problemen”, zegt Pietersma, “maar helaas is dit bij veel mensen nog niet bekend.”
Jammer, want hoe eerder je hulp krijgt, hoe beter. “Of het nu gaat om kankerpatiënten, mensen met alopecia, of mensen met dunner wordend haar, vroege signalering is essentieel. Het tijdig aanpakken van problemen kan veel ellende voorkomen.”
