Schrijver en theatermaker Paulien Cornelisse voelt zich nog steeds ongemakkelijk over het schrappen van haar tournee wegens haar ziekte. Dat vertelt ze zaterdag in Het Parool.

Cornelisse moest haar theatertournee schrappen omdat ze wordt behandeld vanwege kanker.

“Altijd, als ik heb gespeeld, heb ik het gevoel een zinnige avond te hebben gehad”, zegt ze in de krant. “Ik weet ook wel dat iemand die opereert in het Antoni van Leeuwenhoek iets écht belangrijks doet, maar als ik een voorstelling speel en mensen genieten daarvan, heb ik ook het gevoel dat ik, binnen mijn mogelijkheden, iets nuttigs heb gedaan. Dat geeft een goed gevoel. En dat ik dat nu niet kan doen, voelt heel raar. En beperkt.”
De schrijver had een vreemd moment toen ze recent een weekendje naar Deventer ging. Ze liep langs het theater en realiseerde zich toen opeens dat ze daar had moeten spelen: “Toen zag ik bovenaan die speellijst staan: ‘Paulien Cornelisse. Afgelast.’ Hier had ik een van mijn try-outs moeten hebben.”
Ziekteproces
Toch staat ze nog steeds achter haar keuze de tournee te schrappen. “Ik doe try-outs al vroeg met het publiek erbij, dus de voorstelling ontstaat in kleine zaaltjes”, zegt Cornelisse. “Dat zou nu veel te vermoeiend zijn. Als je ziek bent, krijg je er zo ongeveer een baan bij. Operaties, behandelingen. Nu, vanmorgen, ben ik al in het Antoni van Leeuwenhoek geweest voor een gesprek. Nu ben jij er, daarna is de dag wel weer klaar. Ik zou er absoluut geen theatertour bij kunnen doen.”
Over de actuele situatie rond haar ziekte vertelt ze: “Ik word voortvarend behandeld in het Antoni van Leeuwenhoek. Een fantastisch ziekenhuis, fantastische verpleegkundigen ook. Maar ik zit nu nog zo midden in dit ziekteproces, dat ik er eigenlijk nauwelijks op kan reflecteren.”
